Welcome
Hello! I’m Beth Smeeton, creator of The Aligned Self Methodology—a powerful process that helps you stop falling back into old patterns and start stepping into the version of yourself you know you’re meant to be.
I help highly capable women who know what to do, but can’t get themselves to actually do it. Not with tips, motivation, or digging for more discipline—but by resolving the inner conflict that’s causing their resistance.
My clients are smart,
self-aware, and capable…
but they keep getting stuck in the same loop:
Breaking promises to themselves even when they know what they want and what to do. My work is about getting to (and ultimately transforming) the root cause of what’s holding them back so change stops feeling like an uphill battle and starts to feel natural.
My Story
9 years ago I was a Creative Director at a big company, leading a team, making great money…the whole ‘successful on paper’ thing. And then suddenly it was all gone when I got laid off due to budget cuts.
I remember feeling this weird panic because without my title or career…I didn’t know who I was. And that was the moment that kicked off a journey I never saw coming.
I ended up getting certified as a health coach because I thought it would be a fun change. I started working with clients, giving them plans, teaching them what to do, and helping them stay consistent…but almost immediately started to notice something.
Most people don’t struggle because they don’t know what to do. They struggle because they can’t seem to follow through.
They start strong…then self-sabotage.
They set goals…then break promises to themselves.
They want change…but something holds them back.
And I became obsessed with figuring out why.
That curiosity led me into life coaching, and eventually a Master’s program that completely changed my life. I started learning about identity, beliefs, and the nervous system and how those things are what drive our decisions and behavior. And instead of just applying what I was learning on clients, I started using it on myself too…because I had my own patterns to unwind.
One of the biggest being my struggle with binge and emotional eating for almost twenty years. The kind of battle that makes you feel like you’re constantly starting over and trying to fix yourself but nothing works no matter how hard you try. After decades of feeling like a failure, the thing I realized through this work was life-changing.
What my clients (and I) needed wasn’t more discipline. It was a different relationship with our Self.
Once I started doing this inner work, everything started shifting naturally. Food was no longer a problem, my relationships improved, and my anxiety drastically reduced. I could barely believe it (!!!) and couldn’t wait to share it with the world.
At first, I helped women heal their relationship with food and body image, and over time started helping those same clients with their relationships, work, confidence, finances, big dreams, etc.
Because the relationship we have with our Self doesn’t just impact one area of life. It’s the core that influences everything.
Which is why I do what I do now. Helping women rebuild the relationship they have with their Self so what they desire to be, do, and have stops feeling like an uphill battle and starts to feel natural.
Long-lasting transformation isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about coming home to who you already are by resolving the inner conflict that was once holding you back.
If you’re in that in-between season where you know you’re meant for more but keep getting in your own way. You’re in the right place.

(My creative background may seem irrelevant, but I leave it here for three reasons. 1) it’s a part of who I am to my core 2) I want you to know it’s never too late to change, or make a pivot in your life 3) I believe my creativity is a huge factor in how I’m able to identify the underlying cause of my clients’ unwanted behaviors and patterns at such a rapid rate. It isn’t uncommon for me to hear from clients that I’m a wizard or sorcerer for doing so!)
